Dreamliner
« on: February 02, 2011, 11:59:21 am »
Well,.....my personally modified, enhanced and superfied Head Raptor LTD finally chewed up and spit out their liners. The hunt was on and after much ta-do....I found info on Intuitions not yet publicized Dreamliner. Full floating tongue, plug and go liner arrived.

Very impressed with how well they are made. They are 1/2 lb lighter per liner than my Head Raptor liners. I also like how the? liner cuff is shaped at the top. The cuff wrap actually envelopes the tongue so much better and higher than the stock liner. This is where all the fore/aft pressure is applied and for me, critical to having immediate contact. Brilliant.

The liners fits well in the boots. The throat of the liner does not have that "Achilles pocket" of material like the Raptor liner does but it did not seem to make any difference in the ankle hold department. The on snow test will resolve that concern and performance test on Friday.

I also will be interested to see if it's going to be warmer than the stock liner.

The flex pattern feels spot on and the tongue makes solid contact with the shin, no hot spots. Much smoother flex pattern than the stock liner I think due to the excellent upper cuff shin contact.

Not sure if anyone else is out looking but so far for me....things are hopeful!

Best, Gary
ps
That's my initial reaction and will have more later this week. If all goes well, I will be in them all next week in Steamboat.

What is it made of?
Stiffer initially than your stock liners?

I almost can't believe I'm saying this, but I am pretty sure I would do the Nordica liners again.
Stiff at first and require break-in, but very little compaction over time, just more molding to one's foot contour.

So much more comfortable than what came with my new Noridica boots. Getting in/out with the current shell
is no problem unless the boot is really cold.

BUT.....due to increasing funk and wear, I am thinking of new liners for next season.
And am open to hearing about new liner products.

Please give us the updates!

Hey Lynn..no it does not feel stiffer than my previous liner like the wraps did. The flex in the liner is just like my old one...this is perfect.  I really like the upper cuff contact and it's very very easy to get in and out of.

The tongue moves freely and has awesome contact with my shin.

The material is their special blend of herbs and seasonings...not the same as those special wrap ones you and Alice have or had. I am hoping it keeps feet warmer and that too will be a big plus.

I did notice that the forefoot seems to fill up the boot which is translucent, much better without feeling to big. It really fits the shell well. When I put the liner on without the shell, it fits snug and has the correct width for my foot. My order was for the thin model of Dreamliner.

So far so good meeting my expectations...on snow test is next.

Gary:

Where did you hear about or get information on the Intuition DreamLiner.  The only Google hits I get are for a snowboard boot liner by that name -- please tell me you haven't gone over to the dark side??

The only close name I see on the Intuition site is Freedom Liner?

Do they need to be heat molded, or just swap them in?

Hey Jim...I actullay was referred to Epic where a guy got a pair from Intuition to try out. He took pictures and posted them up. THe liner he reviewed is red but the actually production model is black.

Email Intuition and ask for Cindy to contact you...tell her we spoke. You'll find her very accomdating...you know me...I asked a zillion questions over a 2 week period. Basically, if you don't like it or it does not fit the way you want...you send it back for a full refund.

This liner is NOT heat molded....it's put in boot and go.

Hope to have it on the snow tomorrow. But my intitial reaction after putting it all together with my foot beds, very positive.

This is a new product for them that's why you can't find it on line.  I was told by a boot fitter in Jackson that he's not promoting the Intuition Wraps for those in traditional boots because it stiffens the boot to much. This Dreamliner looks to be very similar to my Raptor liner but with Much much much better upper cuff connection.
