Spring Skiing Plans
« on: February 28, 2011, 06:25:13 am »
OK give it up....any plans?

Me
Next week March 5 to 11 is the annual Killington bumpfest with ski buds from much younger days.

April 4 to 8 will be in Summit Co and the plan is to join the annual Epic gathering which is a ski around at several mountains. Phil, Trish and Ron have time blocked out for same, so it should be fun.

While there, I would like to visit the Skunkworks and get a boot analysis done. Harald told me I'm knock kneed and I use a shim under one boot. How long does the process take? Also considering an on-snow confirmation day which probably comes with a lesson.

Sounds like fun Mike...be interested in hearing the results of your boot fitting.

Glad to hear you're getting back out west again.

Heading to BC on March 12th for a week and then April I've got another invite to go up for sping snow...

but with the amazing snow we've had in upstate NY...gotta believe we'll be making turns here till end of April.

But wow...I think it's been the best ski year for snow...amazing!  g

Can we come?

Well, in some nice classic spring RAIN  ???  Todd W and I did some turns at Killington today. The man is an animal ;D, actually he is really a good guy and fun to ski with. Called him at 9 with rain coming down hard in Rutland...he's at the mountain getting ready to go. Met him at 10 and skied to 3:30. Best ski day in the heavy rain that I can remember. Snow was in great condition, foggy weather is eating it up. Other than gloves, jacket and pants kept me dry. Believe in Event fabric for being in wet weather.

We never met before today, but, had just a great time. His parting gift was some alignment shims so that I can play with my knock knee stance.

Thanks Todd, we'll do it again.

Snow is expect to be 6 to 8 overnight.

Off to Stowe on Wednesday to ski with Epic for a day and spread some ashes of my great friend Pete.

Praying that one of my two pair of gloves dries for tomorrow.

There's nothing like a little noncrystalline precipitation in March to keep the lift lines under 15 seconds? ;D? I had a great time skiing with Living Proof.? We each sacrificed two pair of dry gloves to the weather gods in exchange for having a huge mountain all to ourselves.

Just a quick update.

Yesterday, snowed all day, windy, cold, low visibility - loved every freaking minute of it .

Today, bluebird day, great pow leftover....K'ton is about as good as it gets.

And about the promise I made after destroying my shoulder that  I'd never do bumps again.......well, that on par with many New Year's Resolutions. And that's the payoff for doing the drills! ;D ;D

Jimrat, good job getting rid of our new member.

I've already planned the 3rd week of April next year  ;D  I'm going back to Hintertux.  Over half of the slots are already sold 11 months in advance, which is a testament to how wonderful an experience it is.

We've got another 2 weeks out at Bachelor. The US Ski Team is here for training which is fun to watch. Here's a recent video that shows the conditions.

A classic Ted Ligety quote:

"In the last few years, I went from being a young guy to an old guy"

Truth! And he's only just beginning that journey.

From the Bachelor website:

Another spring powder day - 5" of new snow last night, 10" in 48 hours!

Max:  Isn't posting this sort of like spreading **** out in front of the addict who has been forced into summer rehab?  But I hope you are enjoying it.

Max,
Not fair. Cruel.  :'(

But please continue. I am on record that I like to be tortured   :-X

If I can't go skiing, at least pictures that make me want to go skiing helps the "melodies" of my mind  :-\.

Thank you for the pictures! :)
