DPS Arrivals
« on: August 28, 2011, 02:34:29 pm »
Friday, my DPS Wailer 112rp's arrived. Looking over the ski, it's very well made..and sure as hell, bright yellow. Having owned the JJ's and the Rossi S3, I immediately started making comparisons. It's much beefier than the JJ's which I think will help with deflection and vibration.  The shovel on the DPS is very similar in shape to the JJ's and that's where it stops. The tail is quite different in shape and stiffness. It has more rocker than the S3 both tip and tail. Where the S3 has a rounded tail like twin tips, the DPS has a very different shape. The one thing I like about the S3 was it's tail was there to help finish the turn....didn't go away cause it was too soft. The DPS tail has the same of not more stiffness, and rockered ...I'm gonna like that. The shovel on the DPS is soft but not too....and the flex is very nice even and predictable. I mean from my first look and feel...my sense is this going to be one fun and responsive ski.
I'm going to purchase the Marker Jester Schizo so I can find the sweat spot without having to drill more holes in the ski. This binding gives me 3cm forward and 3cm back of mounting point presenting lots of performance options for me.
Did I mention they are REALLY yellow... :o
On snow report to follow in Dec once they find first snow, even if it's groomed and hardpack.. Yes you know...I can't wait!  G

Man, when Gary said yellow, he actually meant YELLOW!

OK gang, the task now is to come up with a new name for these puppies.  To christen them, as it were.  Wailer is far too earnest for something sooo bright.

Banana boats....?  Tweety Birds...?

You will be styling in Blue, Green and Yellow :P

Could call them:
Yellow Submarines ( We all ski in a Yellow Submarine )
Mellow Yellow's ( We call them mello Yello's, Who sang that song? )
Yellow Rivers ( but that got some bad karma allready )
or how about,
Ski is yellow, how about the skier? ( A mega insult to skier of Gary's varied skills )
How do you distinguish the skis from the snow during a pit stop?
Well, you only see the tips when you are actually skiing!

But, congrats and it's nice to have a new toy, even a yellow one!

Jealous, who me??? No green eyed monster here (oops, meant yellow eyed monster)

Definitely not! Don't encourage him, for Pete's sake.  We want to watch Gary ski.....not watch him *** (insert three-letter word that rhymes with ski)

And just remember there is no reason to keep those yellow skis paralell :D
Quite right! Good advice JB.  Gary:  remember...use the reverse-wedge move when you do a piste-side pit stop.  Gives you more space up front....in case your aim is off.....  ;D

YOu guys had me rolling off my chair this morning...and Mike you green eyed monster..(after a night of drinking with the Epic boys)...I must state these skis probably and most likely will not submarine. And yes..I'm already referred to as the "Easter Basket" by a friend at our local mountain AND he hasn't seen these skis yet...

Svend what have you started ....I do love the idea of the reverse-wedge and certainly a topic that should be an entirely new subject matter...perfect description though...LOL....

JB...from your brain and typed fingers..."no reason to keep those skis parallel"....that one brought laughing tears to my eyes....but of course WE try to carve each turn perfectly...."it IS what we do"!

Guys thanks for the .....whatever I just got....
Not sure I'll actually be able to pick a name until I'm able to describe them first like those "bad girls"...or "bad boys" or "wild steads", or "mushmellows" or "trenchers" or "eek, what have I done".

Still....I'm finding especially appealling "Fatyellows"!

Best gang, g
