Goals for the Upcoming Season!
« on: October 05, 2011, 09:46:39 am »
I have a few:
1. ski 60 + days. Last year was 49 so I feel like I have a good shot.
2. Get my CB and CA in place in all turns on all terrain. This means perfecting the No Swing Pole Plant
3. Heli Ski Trip to Greenland. Odds are good that I will finally do this trip.
4. Finally hook up and ski with a few members on this forum
5. Getting my wife into some pow and chow and haviing her love it!

Who else has goals to share?

1. Kick ass
2. Take names

 1. ski at least 30 days. Got 27 last year.

 2. continue to work on technique (missed signing up for a camp, so perhaps a private)

 3. have as much fun as possible while doing the above.

Good goals so far.  Here are Mine:

1. Get comfortable in the Air-I suffer from learning to ski after the age of 30-I'm ok with very modest jumps with good, wide open landings-but I lack the casual comfort of true experts who handle vertical drops in most situation with ease and aplomb.  I'm not talking TGR jumps, I just mean the 10 footer in smooth transition.

2. Travel More-I haven't put together a really good extended ski trip in the last two seasons, that has got to change this season.

3.  All Conditions-All Terrain with equal skill and comfort on both.  Want to make this more than just a Mantra, but a reality (In my opinion, skilled, fluid, balanced skiing in  All Conditions and Terrain is the hallmark of the true expert.

4. Teach Skiing:  I'd like to do this more as an on-hill instructor for Patrol ski and sled skills and I'm looking into part-time ski school work (at Berkshire east and possibly Mount Snow...we'll see).

5. I had around 45 ski days in last season...this year, I'd like to equal that but make sure my entire family is part of 70% of them (and that includes Biggie as well as Shorty and the Little woman.).

First true Frost last night...It's coming!

Two simple goals

1) Beat HelluvaSkier in a timed GS course

2) Beat Bushwacker down Birthday Bowl

All others are secondary and will require more thought

Hey, LP.
I think someone once told me that good goals in life should be both measurable and attainable.
Good luck with those.   ::) :D

My biggest goal for this year? To stop at least twice every ski day and just gaze in amazement at the beauty around me.!!

Now, I'm gonna be mean.
How about adding your goal of finding some counterbalance/counter acting instead of inclination??? :-*

I'm willing to make more than just two runs with you every day!  :P

NOPE.  I'm not so "inclined".  My Goals are largely as stated.  They are measurable and can be accomplished. ???

I will continue to work on CB/CA, along with not dropping my right hand, and a cleaner weight transfer at transition, and committing COM down the hill.  And, with all of those, I could use some help.  But continual improvement of skiing skills isn't a goal, it's just something I plan to do.

My goal for the year is to remember that my glass is much more than "half-full" -- and to enjoy the skiing and the beauty of being outdoors.  And if I skid or stem a turn here and there, it won't keep me up that night. And if I fall in the trees because of lack of some skill, I'm pretty sure that I'll come up smiling -- 'cause falling in soft snow is a joy in and of itself.

About forty years ago in Vietnam, Tony Quiles died and I didn't. Lynn, I also know the two big heartbreaks in your life, and I imagine everyone has similarly painful memories. Steve Job's passing (at 56) sort of gives one pause, reminds almost all of us (I assume) that our glasses are much more than half-full (maybe especially those of us that are older).

I split the thread at this point and created the "Memorable Ski Happenings".
Continue posting here for goals related stuff.

we are extremely mortal creatures for right now the minute we start living life like we are fragile is minute it would not be worth living.

My goals.

Gold (which isnt first) in the Stowe Derby XC ski race and I have 2 days skate skiing in my life.
Win the Coed Big Mountain battle at Smugg with my favorite female ski buddy. Basically its race that incorporates uphill hiking/skinning with DH skiing skill/speed.
kill it at the MRG triple crown
ski 150+ days again

I think I have chance to compete for the win in 2 outta of the three MRG triple crown(vertical challenge and moguls) and the big mountain challenge is going to be won on the up. Me and my teammate our both running sub 6 minute miles now for more than a mile (literally been training all summer to get to a sub 6 minute mile).  I am hoping this translates to uphill speed.

If I have any skill at all on skate skis I think I can do well, but quite frankly skate skiing down Toll Road scares me worse than skiing corbert's coulair.

shred the gnar on skate skis

they do have reverse sidecut so i should be right at home right?

BW: I'm not changing my skiing or breaking out the rocking chair; just taking time to reflect and enjoy what would be easy to take for granted.!!
