« on: February 05, 2012, 06:24:53 pm »
The inbounds this weekend was good for about 3 hours saturday morning after the 6- 10 inches that feel saturday morning. So many freaking people out there skiing!

Akokskis getting some post closing powder on his new Worth Skis!

Sunday afternoon me and a group of fellow coaches hike up the chin. Brutal wind/ blowing snow

That wind made for some great conditions which Liz gladly rip up

Reed getting some on the one plank

Liz Giddy with how awesome this is, after the inbounds was SKIED out. picture of the day.

tomorrow will yet again be another powder day. since the Backcounty is not even close to being skied out!

Josh,

From the photo, I think the start of the climb is the summit of the Gondola. How long does the hike take, and, is the skiing capable of being done by mere mortal skiers?

It will take you about 1 hour to get there. Me and Liz can do it less than 20 minutes now but we are can practically run up the hike now. Its hard to say on the skiing.

The easy way down(Profantiy) is about 30-35 degree in pitch with variable snow conditions(duh its not inbounds :P). We got it today with smooth buff powder skiing all the ways back to the resort, but that is rarity unless you doing it as a first run, or its brutal hiking from wind.  I have seen strong athletic L7 be able to handle it. Fall do not carry people down the hill on this slope

The harder ways down are quite a bit harder than the easier way down. The next easiest way down Hourglass is a 50 degree 7 foot wide chute that has every chance in the world to kill someone on a miss step. This is slide for life terrain and should be treated with utmost respect.

After that there are many creative ways down. All are steep, all have airs. This is where its get serious, and on the right day seriously fun.
