Very Excited - I Got 'Em - Thanks Guys
« on: February 22, 2007, 09:13:52 pm »
Hi,

I just want to share my excitement - just got an incredible deal on IM82 (172) and Supershapes (170).

A huge thank you to all of those  who gave me the nudge into the SS  in a 170 and all of your feedback.  The final word I got from a good skier who has skied on both 165 and 170 is the 165 is great at slower speeds but a "bit squirely over 25mph - the 170 is more stable".

THe IM82 is the new 2008 model so it will be interesting to see the colours.

They want to put a LD12 on the 82 and a RFD 14 on the SS.  Anyone have strong feelings against this?  Any suggestions on the mounting positons for both skis?

Once again thanks for all the input.  I will be out of touch for a few days.

Brendan

Brendan,

Congratulations on your purchase! I ordered my SSs from Scott today in 170 as well. It will be interesting to share the impressions once we get them on snow! Too bad they won't arrive until next week.. It seems like Sunday might be a rare powder day here in Wisconsin. Or well, I will enjoy my Magfires 10 then..

Aleksey.

Brendan, if yo are using the 82's more on groomed stuff then the LD's are fine as they give yo a bit more leverage for carving and edging. If they are going to be used more on powder and crud, then the Mojo's are probably better. That said, I have the LD's and have also tested the Mojos. There isn't a huge difference so don't sweat it; especially if there are real $ involved. I think the LD's are a bit cheaper.

I would go with the LD12 on both unless your "normal" DIN setting is 9 or higher.  No reason for different bindings based on the ski (and it should save you $60-100) over the 14.

Congratulations.

Sorry I got you excited Lynn (midwif).  Actually there may be something psychologically not right with me.  I got more excited about buying these ski than I did a new sportscar some years ago.  But hey - the best thing a car is for is getting you to the mountain.

Thanks everyone

Just came back from the first test-drive of my new 170 cm SSs!- I'm so glad I listened to all of you guys a got them in 170! They are truly amazing. When I came to local ski resort I discovered POWDER conditions (4-5 inches). Even though in my home town 30 miles away there was no snow at all. I was little worried about taking SS into the powder since I just don't have that much experience. But it worked out amazingly well. I felt more confident on SS than on my Magfires 10. They are truly fascinating skis - so easy to maneuver at any speed - slow or fast - and in any conditions I experienced today. Really looking forward to try them on groomed!

Aleksey,

Youre turning me green with envy - i have not one but 2 pairs of brand new skis (SS/ 170 and IM82 /172) and right nowi its 85 degrees.  At least the ocean is warm to swim in.
Great to hear the 170 is the right length and someone out there is skiing.  How tall/ weight are you?  I am really looking forwanrd to taking them out for a spin.  Already looking at July / August in the calendar for a ski trip in Australia.

Best

Brendan,

You make me feel envy too - 85F and the ocean sounds cool! It would be sweet to ski and then drive down the mountain and swim in the ocean... Paradise! I wonder if such place exist on this planet? ;D

Anyways - I'm 5'9'' and 155 lbs. And I tried SS 160 and 165 on groomed. 160 were too short.. 165 were really nice. I only tried my 170 in powder so far -  will be taking them on groomed over the weekend. Will keep you updated

Just got back from last day of skiing in Cascade Mountain, WI.. They still have at least 2-3 feet of REALLY nice snow but they closed today for the season. Makes me mad.. Or well.

Within last week I skied my SuperShapes in various conditions ranging from 2-3 inches of fresh wet slush to just pure ICE! I was really impressed to find that these skis work really well as water skis as well as ice skates. I just love them - not much more to say! Thanks guys again for your suggestions to get them in 170. Too bad I will ski them for only one more day this season in northern WI next Saturday. And then I will be waiting to hit East coast slopes for the next season.
