One of the bonuses of sharing with Lynn is not having McDonald's for breakfast each morning.

Get ready for oatmeal every morning. ;D

Actually I like a bowl of oatmeal with a piece of toast very much.? Cream of wheat as well.
Cheerios, Wheeties, or Raisin Bran rather than Cap'N Crunch or other sugar-eals.
aaaannnndd, I don't expect Lynn to 'buy for me' at all.? I can run to the grocery store reasonable well.? ?:-\ That icon is Gary's look.? ?;D? ?As the women here at work might say, there is no reason for her to 'enable my male-helpless behavior.'

:D However Lynn, am I in danger of getting voted off the island?? Should I be looking for althernate accommodations?

Nah, the island gods approve of your breakfast choices.

Gary:? I've got ski poles that are color coordinated with my skis (eat your heart out Ron) but I scraped one of them pretty badly.? Could you give me some guidance on how I can wax my poles so that random contact between poles and ski edges don't result in nicks and scrapes of the poles?

thanks.? ?;)

Did he just say "wax his poles?"

Ok, you will be very dissapointed in that I don't match or dress in that way that is being portrayed. I am feeling tremendous pressure here   ;D

Nick and scrape protection
« Reply #20 on: August 20, 2007, 09:23:39 am »

No, I said nick and scrape protection.  I thought Gary was recommending top sheet wax as the preferred methods that EXPERTS use to protect from nicks and scrapes.  I was just seeking  :) his expert thoughts on whether I could apply those same ideas to ski poles?  I love my purple Leki's.

PS.  I think we all recognize that there is probably more un-truth than truth floating around, so I won't be at all surprised to find you a completely different person that the one Gary has protrayed.

Gary is an expert, and No, I will most likely be worse! Mr. Cassara may come across as responsible and adult but there is a true teenager in that man!  He will be the first to start slinging the "crud" whenever the opportunity presents itself. i just get blamed....

I admit to being a gear ****. I am a real ski/outdoors tech-head but I do like to have fun and do enjoy wearing stuff that's not exactly "boiler plate".

Is this Gary Cassara, or are you talking about his father??? ?;D  "Adult and responsible" weren't the first words that came readily to mind.  :-)
Course I haven't seen him at his best yet.

Seriously, I don't beleive any of us should ever let go of the child inside.  I would think that would take a lot of the fun and amazement out of the world.

Ok children now settle down, it's bed time and if you're all good, I'll read you a story about the princess, the prince their fluffer, waxer and re finisher.

Now, Jim, Ron is a clothes horse do doubt and will have his trunks of ski clothes delivered prior to all arriving. His sense of colors, matching skills, and ability to really pull it all off is remarkable and draining....well on the rest of us. You my friend shall experience that very behavior, the moment we walk into a ski shop and the springs that hold everything together between his ears start popping....you can actually hear it happen. Then, have a seat as he goes to work with the sales people...he's one smooth cookie.
Oh yeah, bring a snack, you're going to be a while.

Yes, keeping some child behaviors (except when it comes to safety) works for me and me's think you too! As a matter of fact...most of who write here. AND that's why I'm here...we're all a bit freakn' nutso....luvs ya all!

Oh Yeah..when anything goes wrong here, or on the slope....everyone smile and point to Ron. He likes the attention! You know, the "Mike did it" syndrome. Oh yeah, and  a good glass of whine.....no, no...wine.

Jim will this work...just coat your poles with Vaseline...they'll cheat the wind, never get stolen, and always look brand new. If you don't like that idea...here's one that really is workable:

I'm sure you know they make different colors in electrical tape. For easy identification purposes, I have use red electrical tape, one inch swath  on each pole. They're easy to identify sticking out of the snow. But, if your poles get knicked, be creative, using the tape to cover the scrapes...do both poles  for symmetry. Hey, you never know, you could always use the tape if you're on  a chair lift and it shorts out!

Best,
Gary

Notice how gary points to everyone else here? See, mr. Quiet, no, gary would never play a prank or pull as fast one!  It's all my fault already, see the pattern, he's setting things up already. Don't get sucked in my friends!  Where's Lynn? I need someone to cover  my back here!!!   :D

Ok Mr sensitive...you have enough clothing to cover you back....don't bring in our NY Oatmeal representative into this....she's got enought things to think about....like does jim know how to stir the oat meal...does he like it soupy, lumpy, with raisins, without, brown sugar or honey, 1%, 2% or skim milk...too much pressure.

Nope...no fast one here..just slow and steady and all pointing, at well....my ski buddy, Costello! (Who's on first?)
