The Forecasts
« on: October 05, 2007, 07:59:12 am »
Hi gang...

Read in the paper this morning that the National Weather Forecasters are supposed to have their 3 month weather prognostications out this Tuesday.

Hoping we see lots of cold and snow!

Fingers crossed....

Gary

I try not to look at those, its basically a guess so if it says snow, you get all pumped up and disappointed if it doesn't happen, but if they predict dry warm temps or worse, wet and warm temps. then I'll worry too much....Did I mention I had neurotic tendencies?

Ron, I agree.

I do want to know what the 3  month forecast is, but then I forget it intentionally. Too unreliable.

No, Michael said he wanted to see it because he knew the early-Alzheimers would kick in and he would soon forget what it said.

Well the boat continues to get early snows. Nothing that will really accumulate towards a base yet, but the pattern, according to some locals says this is a good sign.  I really think we are going to be in good shape.

I'm sorry Michael.  I didn't intend to offend either you or Ron.

You know the weather prognosticators are I think more wrong than they are right on most short term forecasts.

I too hate to think about the weather when it comes to outdoor activities...as a matter of fact my saying "pour the concrete" is well known to my local golfing and ski buddies.

Don't wait for the weather....pour the concrete and for the most part....all is good.

Now forecast for the year...we're probably better off with the Farmers Almanac and  Goofy the Gofer than any scientific methods.

Still,...I'd just like to go to bed each night having some source say" It's going to be a Freakin' Powder Fest this year in the east and west!"

Best,
Gary

I hate to say this but living here in Northwest NJ, I don't even really care how the season shakes out for this area. It hasn't been good in many years and all my skiing that counts is done eslewhere. Our weather has changed so much in the past 10 years; its pretty dramatic. I don't even think the slopes around here have anything decent to slide on unitl mid to late December. Fortunately, there aren't any good places anyway that are nearby. Gary is so lucky, he's got Bristol 45 minutes out and Holiday Valley/Holimont about 2. Bristol does a great job for thier size. I am hoping they have a few runs open around thanksgiving, I plan to run up there and make some turns with Guru himself.

Yep..have seen the same changes in the weather pattern here too. Fortunately, the colder weather does come in and they have excellent snow making abilities....helps immensely.

Eagerly anticipating Thanksgiving snow and crossing all body parts for an early resort opening here.

Come on up Ron, Bristol awaits you.....

Best,
G

Are you trying to make the rest of us jealous? Or just showing Gary how fast you are to accept the fine accommodations?  ;D And that he should be more careful in the future??
