Buying crap is fun...I know the feeling.

Yep already a member of steepandcheap. Been there, bought the ski rack, didn't fit the Jeep, had to return it......

I saw people skiing/riding what's left of the half pipe at Mt. Snow yesterday via their webcam. That's pretty amazing considering that's Southern VT and yesterday was June 1st.  8)

Yes, the days are counting down and I can almost feel that cold brisk air envelop my face as I leave the condo and head for the gondola....the snow is crunchy, the sun is shinning. I've had my oatmeal, tea, water, pancakes, enough fuel to make it till noon. I  carry my gear as if they were trophies walking as quickly as the altitude allows with eager anticipation of that first run...

Man...I'm there!

Yes, we can't forget to take out our own box of buckwheat pancake mix.

I'm not sure if we could pull it off. However, we'll be at Mt. Snow a lot...so if any of you are from the east coast and want to meet up someday.

Where is everyone from here anyways?

Hmm..Mt. Snow.  Have to look that up.  I ski Smuggler's mostly.  From Florida, lived in Vermont, went to Univ. of Vermont.

Any takers for Sugarbush/Stowe???

Love the idea of renting a house if we have enough takers.
While Okemo works hard at good snow conditions and Mt Snow is nicely south, I find them both a little lackluster for multi day visits, especially Mt Snow.

Sugarbush has two mountains, varied terrain and an old fashioned feel. I haved stayed at a lodge on the access road a half mile from the base about 3 times. Decent, basic lodging, clean with a small breakfast included.

Stowe is a new favorite. Neat town, great terrain. Yes a drive, but the temps tend to support better snow conditions over all.

We have months to argue for the best hill!!? ;D

I like both.  I was a gatekeeper for the women's olympics at Stowe once.

Lynn, I was just looking at a High Sierra model that is 50oz, I agree that's plenty. I love the hand/toe warmer trick!? Very cool, where do you place the warmer? Anyway to keep the line warm?

They just don't hold enough bourbon for the day.  I still have to return for a refill.  I don't do backpacks.  I just carry money in a money clip, a rag (for wiping debris off my face, goggles, etc.).  and a handy dandy compact tool thingy.  Gotta keep the wind resistance down....

Bourbon?? A REAL man among the REALskiers. I think we'd like to see you down a nice glass of bourbon and then ski. But, we'll all ski BEHIND you! >:D ;D >:D ;D

Brad, I only use the CamelBak out west where I am constantly thirsty. Don't need it in the East.
