What is you goal for this season?
« on: September 03, 2008, 06:10:12 am »
Is it to work on something? Buy all the gear that is on sale? Just ski with some great people? Hit more areas? What are your goals?

For me, skiing is a recreational activity, and my goal is to enjoy doing it!

I've got plenty to work on (and I'm sure Gary will point out a few more), but that is just a sidelight to the main goal.
Talking about or buying more gear is fun, but the reality is that for me I could probably enjoy the skiing just as much on old gear.
I expect to ski with some great people, but even that would pale absent the skiing (I spend time with some great people every day).

"Enjoy" can take many forms.  Maybe it's getting down a challenging slope, maybe it's growing with a new skill, many times it is just stopping skiing and enjoying the beauty around me, living and relishing in that moment of peace and quietude (and then comes along noisy Gary). :-)

Hey...nosiy Gary.....why what in heavens do you mean James?

My skis contact with the snow is music ...the music of the mountains.....that smile glued to my face makes only the noise of happy.....

and, I only point out if one inquires......

I did enjoy your zen approach to being in the momment on the mountain.

I'm bringing ear plugs this year for you!? ;D

I think Jim may have been referring to the sound of yellow spray coming off your boards as you come down the mountain. Or is it chunks of yellow snow dropping off the waxed topsheets??? >:D :D

ANd the beast bellows to the surface again....

It's like steppn' in do do.....ya never seem to get it off your shoe and you become hyper sensitive to it's fragrance.

Since it's such a sticking subject, I'd be happy to spread around a little love to those elephant brains that never forget.

Hmmm....it would be much easier if I could just line you all up and well.....like a milititary parade...."**** in Review"! The skiers need not attend...just the skis!

There....I guess do do is just that, do do....I'm learning to live with it....hmmm...even starting to smell pretty good!  >:D

my goal is to simply get through a season without injury to myself.....

It's too funny that our findest memory of Gary is now the infamous peeing on the skis incident........not his smooth turns or blazing cassara-afterburners...... ;D

We're going to try to get up to VT as often as possible. Hopefully, once a week. We have a week booked up there in Decemeber...we want to book another in February.

My wife wants to keep improving and has stated that she wants to learn to jump this year.

I want to finally learn how to do a 360...but as we used to call it "a helicopter".

Gary:

Nothing intentional.? I was looking for a segue out of the "zen" moment and needed "noise" to break the silence.? Quick moment of hesitation while I decided whether to pick on you or Lynn, decided that you probably wouldn't be so offended as to make me lug luggage.? ;D

And I don't need the earplugs, my hearing is bad enough that I miss half of everything anyway.? Has to do with too many years on a tractor with no mufflers.?
