OK, are you ready for this?

I just bought a slightly used pair of Head Magnum in 170!  YES BABY.

here's why: Gotta love that groomed feel from the Head supershape but with much added underfoot. Improved crud busting ability, a little stiffer, still good in bumps.

I will sell the LTD's for a good price and come away nearly even. If anyone is interested in the LTD's let me know. 172

no really, I am really done and will be done until next season. As long as I can buy and replace for almost the same price, i enjoy skiing diiferent skis. I am looking forward to skiing the goats. I really like a wide board underfoot especially in loose snow. The 105 is a great width. The 110 shamans were very easy to turn with and felt right at home.  This is going to be a great ski I have no doubts. I am actaully tired of looking at skis! I just need to sell the LTD's. That should be easy though.

Uh oh, kermit twins at SB. >:D

Gary's orange dominance may be coming to an end.  Lime green is the "new" orange!! ;D ;D

Congrats Ron. Good choice. I approve.

Oh man...AND he has lime green boots....WOW..the GQ of skiing?

Ok...my take....I'm thrilled he bought a ski I can have fun on!

I have loved the SS line since the 1st time I skied Rons selling my RX8's 15 minutes later....well almost.

When ROn started thinking wider I kept thinking he must like lugging 3 pairs of skis around. But when decision time came a ski like the SS Mag really covers alot of territory, a great turn radius, race breeding, capable of boot high powder, crushes crud and it's got a great feel underfoot.

When ya need to go big...ya got the Goats and well yes....my Watea 94's...

Great choice Ron....I'm sure you and I won't regret it....(just love having the same boot size)  ;D

Not get those top skins waxed!

I also just bought a pair of Magnums in a 170 that are replacing regualr SS's that had become rock skis. I am keeping them in California and they will be my everyday ski for Tahoe on non powder days.

Excellent choice and infinitely more versatile IMO than some of the other names you were bandying around.

Just to prove that you are a better shopper than I, what did you pay for the Magnums (if you don't mind)? I paid $399 for a pair that "was used only six days" that came with demo bindings. I wasn't thrilled with the condition when I got them, although most is base scratching and other cosmetic stuff. Edges are solid. I will most likely take my Free Flex 14's off of my rock SS's and switch them with the demo bindings. I didn't see a lot of magnums around for sale at good prices.

That seems like a good price John.  Senility gets in the way, but I believe I paid $400 for mine back in the spring, new but no bindings.  Was going to move the bindings from my i.SL Chips but decided I liked the coordinated green colors too much to do that.  Got a new pair of bindings for $100, will sell a pair of skis at the local ski swaps to recover some of the cost (but I don't do nearly as well as Ron).

Congratulations Ron --  BTW, I'm looking for a wide ski to add to my quiver.  Are the Goats for sale (yet)?   >:D

MAN, what WOULD we do without you to pick on?   ;D ??? ;D

Jim bought magnums at the end of last season. Posted pics on the forum, here somewhere.
Don't remember if he got a decent deal or not.

Gary, are you sure YOU don't need some magnums? You guys would look like a team at SB!!
My Every Thangs will clash. Oh well, someone has to rain on the parade.

Great reviews on the magnums.

Salomon X-Wing Tornado

I just wanted to here from anyone who has demo'd the Salomon Tornado?  I've heard so many conflicting reviews and wanted to know if anyone has any objective thoughts or experiences while skiing the Salomon Tornado?  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I saw those on Ebay? I paid $470 shipped but, they are in near mint? condition and I can return if they are not to my liking. They offer a deal through epic. http://milehighathletic.com/snow/shop2.php?brand=Head&submitbrand=GO

Any one know anything about the demo sp 130 bindings? I am thinking it would be better to put some RF bindings on them as well.

Ok, you both did better than me, but only by a little bit.  ;D  Amazing how close the prices really are.

Nice score Ron! I bet Phil will be able to give you the lowdown on the demo bindings.

jbotti,
Your description of the Vokl's made me chuckle; that's always how I remembered those skis. I guess some things never change. I would like to test out a pair of those AC's one of these days though. I bet they would be fun to open up on some hardpack.
