The 82 is a great ski.? The one's I had in 183 were just a touch too long for Midwest use.? I'm looking to the 78 in a 177 to be just the niche filler for both Midwest and West use.? AC40 is heavy but quite the all mountain carver, some people swear by them.? Watea's, you've essentially been there, done that.? Most of the reactions I've heard about the Tigersharks have been so-so, no raving.? The trouble with Nordica and Volkl is the Markers that come with them.? Not my favorite binding.? Those Salomon X-Wings looked interesting all last year.? How about an Elan, speedwave 12 or magfire 12...? Supershape magnums...? Keep watching Tramdock, the deals are pretty good so far...

Or just whip out your credit card and order up the 4x4's

Hmmm.

Palmer PO2
Goode Carbon 74
Hart ?? Pulse??

For a better discussion, tell us what skis you've had that you really liked and disliked that you would target for this application.  For example, what did you not like about Head Supershapes for the skiing you describe.  I think the Goode Carbon 74 might be a very interesting choice, and I really liked the graphics on the Hart Pulse's (and you have a bit of a vested interest in that)?

yeah, that 4x4 would be the ticket. I was going to get a pair of Cold heats but I am concerned aobut the weight and overall short-turn, quickness of the ski given the flowflex plate. You demoed them last season, what did you think?

Thanks Jim, I like a wider ski, I just like the feeling underfoot. The SS's are gret skis but just require constant attention again, I am kind of done with 66 underfoot skis. You don't get that nice float feeling underfoot in softer snow. Goode ski's? nahh. not a fan of that one, Pulse would be an awesome ski but I'll let Phil answer that one.

Oh, I will be selling the Dynastar LTD's

Cold Heat and i.m 82 were quite similar with the Cold Heat having the flowflex plate set-up.? Lay em over and hang on.? Preferred the Cold to the Cool.? Probably a message in the fact that there are lots of Cool's around for sale but few leftover or used Cold's.? Cold in a 176 might be a lot of fun...

Sorry missed part of the question.  The forte of the Cold is not gonna be short turns and their weight makes light and lively not the adjuectives to use.

I can get for $390 with binding. A lot of reviews say the FF plate makes it a great GS and larger turner but heavy underfoot, not good at small, quick turns: think Ridge Running here! Very important.

For small quick turns although a little narrower than you're talking, I still think the RX-8 was one of the best in recent times...

One of my favorite product lines is the Dynastar Legend.? How about an 8000 Fluid ??  Good in bumps, good in left-overs...

I can turn a 84 under just fine. that's not an issue. The 8000 is good but not so good on hardpack. RX8? too skinny

2 skis that people swear by. The stockli Rotor, which may be too thin under foot and the Stickli Stormrider XXL (80mm under foot). I have never been on the Rotor. The XXL is a great ski. It is stiff and a great crud buster. Great on hard snow, fine in soft snow, chop and crud, too stiff for bumped up conditions with mortals skiing it.

John,  excellent idea! I was thinking the XXl but wasn't sure. That's a great ski. My local shop has them. They're pretty pricey. Would you put RF on them?

I haven't skied Vokls for years...but they always made a nice snappy ski. They some times needed to be skied hard, but they delivered when you pushed.

Hey folks, how about a Watea 78?

My head is spinning.   ??? ;D  Didn't you just sell a pair of Watea 78's for Gary so that he could buy your 84's??  Or was his the 84's and he bought your 94's.  If you haven't skied the Watea 78, then it sounds like an excellent choice.  You seem to have liked the overall feel, and just a bit narrower for East Coast.  Please head (I mean Fischer) stop spinning.
