.......... ?But, as any good viking knows, it's not the size of the weapon, it's how good the warrior is that's wielding it. ? ;D ;D ;D ?Besides, the bigger the sword, the more cumbersome it becomes...it's all about swing weight, baby....
 ?

Svend:
1. I would like to compliment you on the innuendo and suggestive nature of the post above.? Sounds like something Gary would take great pride in writing, and I can but be openly envious.? It is almost worthy of "needing moderated" so it is probably a good thing that the "Lady Moderator of the Bronx" isn't on today.

2. However, if I remember most of my Kansas world history, weren't the Vikings renowned for exactly the opposite of what you described??? At least in Hagar the Horrible I associate Vikings with large, cumbersome weapons wielded poorly (but with great effectivess due to the massive swing weight).?? ;D ;D :-[ :-[

I'm not sure exactly where to go with this, especially since you also started the other thread about needing a new pole, but at least I am finding myself very amusing.

Now, Now Jim, he's a viking, hence the sword reference, get the mind on the snow!  Sounds like yet another skier in need of help with understanding the joy and ease of skiing powder on wide boards..... Our work is prepared before us Phil.....  ;D

My reference to the SS was indeed the family of that GOD like breed...the Super Shapes in general have received rave reviews and continue to do so.

And Jim....let the young Viking find his own quicksand...I don't think he was anywhere near that evil pit. Besides....it's not like he made reference to his long ship....ships....ye s...ships!

As with children and bad words, the less attention spent the quicker the whole thing is forgotten.

Now...put your broad sword whit away and let's got on with the Viking bashing!

Svend.....did ya get the 156 length?

OMG! I do not wish to bring the wrath of Gandalf upon me, lest I should be banished to some far away corner of the electronic ether (in some dark tower, likely). ?Seriously, no innuendo was intended. ?I plead naivete, complete innocence. ?The reference was entirely to swords and swordsmanship. ?And don't let Lynn read this thread, or her acerbic tongue shall smite me where I stand.

Well, at least you find yourself amusing...good to laugh at oneself...very healthy, and good for the spirit. ?Keeps the old bubble centered, eh Jim? ;D ;D ;D

As for history, yes, the vikings had massive weapons, but not any larger or more cumbersome than those of their enemies, I think. ?Seems everyone at that age was swinging 30 pound swords and hurling boulders at each other with trebuchets and the like. ?Not sure when the cutlass and lighter swords like it came into use...certainly by the 1700s...perhaps earlier, introduced by the Moors?

156? Those are like ice skates  ;) ?170s for this guy...a tad bit short for my height perhaps, but given where I ski and my limited experience, a comfortable choice.
