Ron speaks the truth....

You see a long long time ago, when money was flowing, we trusted all politicians, there was this mountain child that followed the snow. She met this forelorn person, me, while dining on brontosaurus's burgers and immediately fell in love. She tired to analyze the broken me using all the ink blots she had in her office where years of education and field experience was about to be tested.

Every ink blot I saw was a powder field, a soft snow bump run, winding twisting long groomers, and no matter what she tried, that's all I saw. In her effort to cure me, she married me and has totally given up trying to fix what is broken. Acceptance is 100% of success in any relationship.

Now days, with office walls covered with ink dots, I continue to surprise Alice with my outbursts and descriptions of life's day to day events. Yet she still skis, bikes, sleeps, eats and generally supports my insaneness. AH....to know me is to love me...

Now as for Multiple Personalities Syndrome....I've decided today I'm going to be Ron and go out and buy some new skis and 3 new ski jackets!....no...maybe 4.

Ha....g

Gary, you would have to sell the older ones first. i still maintain a 2 jacket 3 pair of pants gear setup. Right gear for the conditions- Skis?  3pairs. Soon to be 4 pairs as soon as the production run is complete on the Icelantic Keepers! Need to get ready for the 2011 season- I will most likely be skiing on some new Icelantics setup for demoing so all of you can test out the skis and then have to buy a coupl eof pairs  ;D  I hope to have that ready for chile in August.

I too through your kind and generous graciousness....wil l be able to click into those new boards...

Now...don't be changing your boot size!

Yes....you are adapt at selling what you previously have purchased....kudos's.....probably a strong advantage to purchasing very good gear...yup something to be said!

I still am the one ski jacket and 1 pair of ski pants guy....Ron you and Stein need to talk. I've found writing your "that day " outfit on the back of my hand helps find you on the slopes!? ;D

AND now look what you've done to Mike...multiple jackets and multiple skis....its rampant and viral...

It's a pure case of "Ron Syndrome"......as henceforth recognized.

G,
Hey, leave me out of this one. One short year ago, we skied at Holimount. You were wearing a popsicle orange ski jacket, and, just raving about this perfect two ski quiver - Progressor 9 and Icelantic Pilgrim. All three are history.

Maybe we live in a  world of parallel universes and there's another Gary out there who pops up from time to time. Hey Jim, what do you think about that one, it's up there with your oil fumes theory. Speaking of disasters in the Gulf of Mexico, so far no change we can believe in!

BTW, my new green RAB ski jacket rocks! And who would not fall into lust after demo'ing Kastle 88's?

That's the joy of demo bindings, they will fit anyones boot- get it?  I have two shells because I can't stand insulated clothing- and using two diffwerent shells (combined weight less that one insuated jacket) allow use in differing climates. Same goes for the pants.

LP:? You must watch Fringe??
Ron's already postulated that there are multiple Gary's that pop up.? Just not clear whether it is from external parallel universes or "internal" parallel universes.? However, must be pretty severe if it requires constant day/night psychiatric "attention".? ?>:D
?
Personally, I'm not sure about parallel universes but I am highly inclined to believe that there are more than 3 dimensions (11-14).? ;D

And thanks for reading my bizarre oil spill fumes theory. Extremely sad; I'm a supporter of nuclear power and the concept of drilling off-shore, and there's been lots of rigs in the North Sea for a long time and I don't remember any horror stories.? But one event (such as Three Mile Island) can dramatically sway public opinion; I believe it triggered 20 years of increased reliance on high sulfur coal-fired power plants to the detriment of our environment.

yes, drill baby drill!  Yes, who cares if it destroys countless livelihoods (fishing, hunting, tourism) peoples heritage and way of life and irreplaceable sea life, coral beds which are the key to the entire environment. Who cares if our beaches and marshes are ruined, it will only take 100's of years to re-grow- who cares that after the coastal areas are destroyed there are no more natural buffers to hurricanes. Who cares.... Since I have a ton of family living down there including my parents- who live on pensacola sound, I care. This is nothing more than greed- and since we as consumers paying for the cleanup courtesy of the bush administrations sweetheart deal with the oil industry capping the damages at 75 million and allowing a .08 charge to each barrel collected for cleanup needs- you might want to care.....  it just proves my 1st boss's favorite line "one Oh **** wipes out a thousand "atta' boys"- one spill is all it takes. Can we afford another one? how many disasters are acceptable. I don't have kids so when i go, i'm gone, you have kids?  What will you tell them when we don't even need oil anymore? Is it really worth the risk? I don't understand. it's simply insane.

Welll, NOT IN MY BACKYARD.? At least I think that was the motive behind the Kennedy's stalling the wind farm for ??3 years??, a wind farm that will supply less than 50% of the local electricity need and make no dent at all in Boston's?? Solar?? An excellent idea and can contribute in the long term, but negligible impact in the overall scale of energy America uses.? Clean fission from sea water - a wonderful solution, but it's been in R&D for the past 20 years or longer and they still can't maintain the reaction.

The reality I see is that we are between a rock and some really hard places. We use a lot of energy, we generate a lot of electircity with dirty fuels (whcih is probably doing more harm to the environment than the oil spill), and we don't have any REAL short term options.? We are consumers and not producers, we don't really make much that the rest of the world wants to buy, we would much prefer oil spills from new wells to be in the sands of Saudi Arabia rather than in the Gulf, but they seem to want us to send money in return for the oil.

I like the sound of the green rhetoric as much as the next guy, but I fear that much of it is just that - rhetoric.? Meanwhile, we have recovered from the gas price shock of a couple of years ago and we are back to buying trucks and SUV's with ever more horsepower and static gas mileage ratings, and blaming the car manufacturers for not making fuel efficient cars.  And we still haul most freight with trucks instead of trains.

I think it's all Jed Clampett's fault.

PS. And my son and family live in Navarre Florida, about 15 miles east of Pensacola.? And I do have real worries about the world and the US of A that my grandkids will wind up living in (but maybe grandparents have always felt that the world was "going to hell in a hand-basket", whatever that means)

Hey we're neighbors! Navarre is (about to be "was") one of my favorite beaches in the world! I go there almost every year.  Still recovering from Hurricane Ivan in fact.  yup, we are all to blame, and of course there's no SHORT TERM fix- so you have to think LONG TERM.......  if we stop with the bullshit and poltical wrangling about making each other look bad regardless of how it helps us, we could make some headway. At least we have some headway with upping the caf standards and pushing the auto manufacturers to get off their ass's. Next someone has to get some control over the oil folks, maybe not having them formulate our policies is a step in the right direction? And to the kennedy and others, who blocked the wind turbines, F' them too! Oh, and the best oymoron.. clean coal...... yeah......

Amazingly, Navarre USED to have a very good zoo for such a little place.? Sad to see it close.? Have been down to the beach with grandkids several times; I wondered if the pretty sharp beach dropoff was the result of hurrican erosion, sounds ilke it is.? The color of the water (at least the last time I was there) is beautiful, really different from the North Carolina beaches that aren't white sand.?? ;D

I absolutely agree about the political wrangling frustration.? Spock said it best "The good of the many is more important the the good of the few".? Our politicians are only interested in the good of the few, namely themselves, especially the Republicans (which probably is still my party).

Agree, clean coal is a lie.?
And, maybe, drilling for oil in 5,000 feet of water is just not practical.? It does boggle my mind that the oil is under so much pressure that it forces itself out even against the tremendous water pressure at that depth.

Very good point. Haven't seen that, but did drive up the valley a few years ago to see Mt. St. Helens and was just dumbstruck at the amount of dirt and mud that was moved; Spirit Lake (I think that is the name) which is still there except 300 feet higher than it used to be, etc.? Mud deposited for miles and miles down the valley.? One of the most awesome things I have ever seen.? Just staggering, but still pales in comparison, now that you mention it, to what it took to form new islands in the midst of the Pacific.
